Eee Site is now Liliputing!

In order to better cover the diverse array of mini computers coming to market, Eee Site is moving to a new domain: Liliputing.com. Eee Site will remain online indefinitely, but you may notice that some articles will redirect you to Liliputing, where all future content will be posted. Please subscribe to the new RSS feed. And please update your bookmarks.

Is the Eee PC too big for you? Would you rather have a 1.5 pound PC capable of running Windows XP or Vista Business with integrated WiFi, Bluetooth, and a 5.6 inch 1024 x 600 pixel screen?

FlipStart
has cut the price of its tiny laptop by more than half. At $1500, the FlipStart was kind of cool to look at, but a bit pricey for a keyboard that you'd be hard pressed to touch-type on. But at $699, the FlipStart looks a bit more attractive. Not only does it have a higher resolution (yet smaller) screen than the Eee PC, it packs a 30GB shock-mounted hard drive and a Pentium M 1.1GHz processor and 512MB of RAM. Pound for pound, you get a lot more power out of a FlipStart than an Eee PC.

Of course, I paid less than $699 for my primary PC. And I probably wouldn't have picked up my Eee if it were priced higher than $400. But I can see this price drop keeping FlipStart in the game (if they were already in it) while the competition mounts from companies like Everex, E-Lead and Acer.
